Are you ready for the changes taking effect from 1st April ?
From 1st April 2010 all businesses with a turnover in excess of £100,000 will have to submit their VAT return online and pay their VAT liability electronically.
While this has been an option for some time now not all businesses have submitted their actual returns online.
As the deadline fast approaches, many businesses will now realise their next return will need to be an electronic one and now is the time to “get set for e-submission!”
HMRC are currently sending out notices advising businesses of this change, you may already have received this, if so do not ignore it as all VAT returns for periods starting 1st April must be filed online and paid electronically.
The positive side of this is that there will be no lost returns; no delays in the post and by paying online HMRC allow a further 7 days to settle your liability. There is even the option to pay by direct debit which again is paid after the submission of the return.
If this is something you would like assistance with, bennettbrooks can arrange online registration and any initial assistance you may require.
