NewsNews | Newsletters | SubscribeHMRC warns on tax rebate scamHM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) has said that taxpayers should be on the lookout for fraudulent emails that claim the recipient is entitled to a tax rebate. The emails attempt to persuade people to complete a form revealing details of their bank accounts or credit cards. HMRC warned anyone receiving a fraudulent email not to complete the form, not to disclose any of their details and not to follow the links. Instead people should forward the email to HMRC at phishing@hmrc.gsi.gov.uk HMRC said that it cannot reply to each email it receives, but that the information will be used to help combat online fraud. To help identify scam emails, HMRC has produced a list of email addresses used by the fraudsters. These include: claims@hmrc.direct.gov.uk notice@hmrc.gov.uk hmrc@hmrc.gov.uk admin@hmrc.gsi.gov.uk info@hmrc.gsi.gov.uk no-reply@hmrc.gsi.gov.uk HMRC said it does not send out emails using these addresses.
