bennettbrooks is pleased to announce the sponsorship of Captain Edward Swift as he cycles 320 miles through Northern France and England in The Big Battlefield Bike Ride from 26 May to 1 June 2008. The demanding route covers some of the region’s most significant WW1 and WW2 battle sites, including the Normandy landing beaches, the Somme and Dunkirk.

The aim of the bike ride is to raise money for Help for Heroes, a charity dedicated to helping our seriously injured servicemen and women coming home from Iraq and Afghanistan. They are amazing people not least lucky to be alive but some are doing the event as well.  Edward has been training for the event for quite some time now but these guys will be doing it with some incredible prosthetic limbs attached.  It promises to be a truly humbling experience but one which he hopes will achieve its aim of raising the funds for the charity to help our heroes.

Edward is the son of Michael Swift who is Director of Forensic Accounting at Bennett Brooks. Edward has served two tours in Iraq and is currently stationed in the UK. He has been training hard over the past few months and has been regularly cycling 40 miles a day. Throughout his army career he has been trained and stationed in the footsteps of his grandfather and great grandfather in the UK, Iraq, Germany and France. Of particular interest, his grandfather was one of the soldiers evacuated from Dunkirk in May 1940 and now Edward also will be “evacuated” by the Royal Navy from Dunkirk on the same day 68 years later!
